Tips on taking notes at school, college or university.

Have you found yourself wishing you could take down notes better at school, college or university? The task can seem daunting but taking notes is a great way to stay on top of all of your classes and learn more effectively. Whether you're a school student studying for your GCSEs or a university student getting a master's degree, there is a very high possibility that you'll need to take notes... We've put together a list of ways that you can make the most of your note-taking below!

Here are some tips to help you make the most of your note-taking:

1. Only write notes which are relevant. Keep your notes precise and focus on writing down important information that will help you with your studies. Sometimes we can get carried away with writing every piece of information down that we miss key sections.

2. Choose the right notebook. Make sure that you choose a high-quality notebook to write your notes in, there are lots of different options on the market, A4-sized, A5-sized, squared, project books… The list is endless. However, choosing the correct notebook for you is important! To view our full range of notebooks click here.

3. Write down examples! Having an example is a great piece of information to come back to, for example, you could write down a similar maths equation or answer a past paper question.

4. Ask questions. If you don't understand something, don't be afraid to ask the teacher for clarification. This will help you get a better understanding of the material and ensure you’re writing down the correct notes.

5. Supplement your notes. If you have a textbook related to the subject you are studying, use it to supplement your notes. This will help you fill in any gaps and get a better understanding of the material.

6. Be organised. Make sure you keep your notes neat and organised. This will make it easier to review them later. You can use our project books to separate subjects, or if you prefer you can use our notebooks which have a perforated edge to put into ring binders, lever arch files or box files for super tidy school organisation.

By following these tips, you can make the most of your note-taking and ensure you stay on top of your classes. Good luck!
