Get on top of your spending this Christmas!

During the festive season, it’s easy to get carried away with spending, especially when you have lots of gifts to buy and mouths to feed. We know that it can be a very stressful time for all those involved. So, this Christmas we’re here to give you some tips to help you budget better by putting plans in place and setting goals for the festive season.

1. Plan your festive spending ahead of the game!

One of the hardest decisions is when to start buying Christmas presents! At Pukka Pads we say the earlier the better, and if you can plan to buy during Black Friday or Cyber Monday there's more chance you'll grab a bargain! Planning ahead of time will allow you a chance to allocate finances and make sure you have enough money left over for any emergencies.

One way to do this is to use a budget planner, specifically designed to help you track your finances, our budget planner is a great place to start. The planner has specific sections for helping you track your goals, savings and monthly spending throughout the year! Check it out here.

2. Take a look at last year's spending!

Looking back at last year's spending is incredibly helpful, you can see where you overspent and what you could cut back on this year. Could you choose to do more DIY’ing and get crafty rather than buy new? This will also help you create a list of essential items you need this year, which leads to our next point.

3. Make a list, check it twice!

Making a list of gifts you've purchased, or need to purchase will help you see the bigger picture and decide where your hard-earning money should go. Making separate lists for decorations, gifts and food will help you keep track and see where you are overspending! Our super handy to-do lists are perfect for this. You can view them here.

4. Price check

Make sure you're getting the best price you can! It's likely that there will be another website with the gift on that may have a discount code or deal. Price checking against other websites and stores will allow you to find the best deal and help you look after those pennies!

5. Consider getting crafty!

Christmas is a great time to get crafting! Making memorable, meaningful gifts is a great way to spread a smile this Christmas and save some pounds whilst you’re at it.

Here’s a list of ideas that you could make for your loved ones.
